I was down so deep in sin,
My heart so filled with care,
I could only see the pain within,
I couldn’t see my Savior there.

My eyes were blind, I could not see,
The next leg of the race,
Then Jesus whispered near to me,
“I’ve already won first place.”

He opened my eyes to the pathway ahead,
He led me to where I belonged,
He brought me to life, where once I was dead,
And where I was weak, He showed Himself strong.

My life is not perfect, it never shall be,
By nature and practice, a sinner I am,
My life, though is changed, and now I am free,
Within His fold I’m a newborn lamb.
